Our story

It started with my own skin.

I created The Lathe because of my own skin issues. I needed a soap I could truly trust, so I set out to make one.

That search became a commitment to quality: soap made from natural ingredients, crafted carefully by hand, with nothing in it that doesn't need to be there. Every bar we make is one I'd use on my own skin.

From my hands to yours, thank you for supporting a small American business.

What goes in

Ingredients you can name.

Every bar starts with a single idea: a butter, a botanical, a mineral or a scent worth building around. Here's what leads each of our soaps.

    How we make it

    Slow soap, made well.

    01

    Blend

Natural oils and butters are blended with the botanicals, clays or essential oils that give each bar its character.

    02

    Cure

Bars rest and harden before they're ready, giving a firmer bar that lasts longer in the dish.

    03

    Cut by hand

Each block is cut and wrapped by hand, so no two bars are quite the same.
